The Cartoon Guide to Physics by Larry Gonick, Art Huffman - Find this book online from $1.15. I bought The Cartoon Guide to Physics from Barnes & Nobel. And also, Gonick's Cartoon Guide to Physics. It explains motion, and gravity and all the goods. The Manga Guide to Physics teaches physics in an innovative way by joining real Japanese-style manga with serious and practical instruction. He also has a good one on Chemistry, and another on Genetics. Should cartoon characters be smarter than their readers? It also reminded me of these Manga Guides to Physics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Mathematics by NoStarch, which were shared recently by Frank Noschese and Dr Tae. Those of us who are still toddling along, however, need Larry Gonick. This is basically a melding of graphic novel and science books. In theory, the Cartoon Guide should be good, but I never liked that book, for reasons I can no longer recall. For kids that are more serious about their physics Larry Gonick has a cartoon style textbookish work titled (aptly enough)"The Cartoon Guide to Physics". It's been said that before physics students can fly with Feynman they need to walk with Halliday and Resnick. Having already purchased A Cartoon Guide to Physics on a previous shopping spree, I didn't even look at this book before whipping out my wallet and adding it to the home school treasure trove known as my learning library.
