I'm reading my first Philip Roth novel, Portnoy's Complaint. So who hasn't heard of Philip Roth? Portnoy's Complaint, by Philip Roth. It's one of those books that I'm ambivalent about ~ in the true sense of the word. Portnoy's Complaint the graphic novel is a fairly slim volume (it was apparently drawn right before Thompson began the final pages for Habibi) coming out next year from Houghton Mifflin. Six-time Oscar nominee Ernest Lehman was an adaptation specialist, but not even he could crack Philip Roth's feisty novel. Although the chapter is dedicated to Phillip Roth, the majority of the chapter is on Roth's most popular and controversial novel, Portnoy's Complaint. One word pretty much sums up this book for me - Disgusting! I don't like the main character.
